Pink Ribbons

Pink Ribbons
I don't think I posted about this, but my favorite Aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer about two months ago. It was caught in the very early stages and has been successfully dealt with. She won't have to have any chemotherapy, just the radiation treatment. There was nothing in her lymph nodes and, at this point, all looks well. The worst part for her, so far, was the two surgeries to get rid of the cancer, but they assured us they got it all and she should, and is, making a full recovery.
She has made me a firm believer in mammograms, that is how they found hers, as small as it was, Thank God.
In her honor I wanted to show you these socks. I am going to make a pair for her. She says she hates to call herself a breast cancer survivor because she didn't have it as bad as some women do. I keep trying to tell her, she had it, it's gone, she's a survivor, but she doesn't feel that way about it. So I am making her these socks. She is a survivor, and her attitude toward the whole thing helped her a long way towards a good outcome.

They finally gave in and decided to play.

shelby knits: Violet Dress Pattern
You have got to check out this dress! It is the cutest little thing.
And the model, you just want to reach through the computer and pinch those little cheeks!

On another note, I will be leaving for Panama City Fl. tomorrow as soon as I get off of work, so the next time you hear from me I will be sitting by the pool!
Talk to you then.
And yes, I brought plenty of knitting materials ;0)

Working on FiFi

I started on the FiFi the night before last. This is my first attempt at cables and I am loving it. I guess I have always thought they were harder and more fiddely than they actually are. This is a great pattern so far, I am still working on the bodice and raglan increases. It is absolutely genius how she has hidden the increases in the cable pattern. I can see myself making quite a few of these, I think there will be one with long sleeves for winter, in a nice silky blend yarn.
Right now I am using Knit Picks ww shine. I really like this yarn too. I had originally bought it for the robe in the Mason Dixon knitting book, but I got ww and the pattern calls for sport, plus it called out for the FiFi so, it's all good.
I will post some pics of the progress when I get home from work today.

Bella's Skirtsicle is done!

This was a great and fast knit. Bella doesn't do allot of growing so it didn't take long at all to get to the end. ;0)
The pattern is at Ravelry, but to my knowledge that is the only place.
If you are on Ravelry you should check it out. It is an easy knit with options for two waistbands.
I will try to Bella Marie action shots soon. I think she is going to look adorable!

My First ever KAL is KAL'd!

My first ever KAL is complete.
This is the June KAL from ShirleyKnittingKnook list over at yahoo groups. Isn't that the most clever cloth!
I love it!

Pluckin' Petunias and Pickin' Squash

Look at the size of the beans! I have loads in the freezer, and we are still giving them away!

First two cucumbers out of the garden!

Loads of cherry tomatoes and okra. I hate...hate okra, but Kendall and the boy love it!

We are getting a mess of squash out of the garden everyday!
The best part, I get to do all the prep for freezing, all by myself! (can you detect the sarcasim here?) I love the garden, seriously, prep work and all.

Braided Hibiscus

This is what happens to your cute itty bitty petunia when you pluck the dead ones out everyday.
It blooms into a monster container of carpet!
I love these little flowers. The color is great!

My Hibiscus that I butchered last winter is actually starting to bloom. I thought that it would be next year before we saw a bloom on this. I butchered it all the way down to the root last summer because I didn't like the way it was growing.
Apparantly it worked, I like it much better now.

This is some kind of hybrid Hibiscus, I have never seen one like this before, but I love it! It is braided with a yellow one and it is a beautiful plant!

I am up drinking coffee, surfing around, and look what I found!
This is the cutest little dress.
I love this blog. She always comes up with some of the cutest little patterns.
I think Bella and Trin need one of these for 'playin' around in.
Bella is such a girly girl who loves to get dirty, complete contradiction! She loves dresses and dirt! I think she would love to have one of these.
When you get time check it out, it is adorable!

I have been hooked

I know I can not be the only one who has every intention of joining a group KAL and then, for one reason or another, it doesn't get done?! Right? Not just me?
I finally decided this is it! I am going to start and finish one. So I started with a great group that is doing dishcloths.
I am absolutely in LOVE with the idea of a KAL, every day I wonder will this row be the one to give me enough of a clue to figure it out? It is awesome!
I have never, ever knitted anything without either a mental or real picture. It is exciting! I didn't realize they were this much fun or I would have been doing them years ago.
As soon as we are finished with this one, I will post a picture on the blog.
Ohh.. and we have 19 rows on so far, and no, I still don't get it, but I will......soon ;0)

Getting back in the groove

It's been so long since I have wanted to knit anything.  I knit so many socks when I started knitting back in '99 that I was comp...
